The Kano State Fire Service said it saved 164 persons and goods worth N650 million from 89 fire incidents in the state in April.
Its Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, made this known on Thursday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano.
Mohammed said 11 lives were lost during the period, while properties valued at N236 million were also destroyed.
He said the service responded to 96 rescue calls and 22 false alarms from residents.

Mohammed identified the use of inferior electrical materials, use of boiling rings and poor handling of electrical appliances as major causes of the fire.
He urged the public to be extra careful and stop storing petroleum products in their homes to avert fire outbreak.
