Kano: Police alert public on potential terrorist threats

The Kano State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, disclosed on Friday that they have received intelligence reports indicating that suspected terrorists are planning attacks on public gatherings in key locations within Kano State.

In a statement titled “Security Alert: Caution Against Suspected Planned Terrorist Attacks,” the police urged residents to exercise caution.

They advised the public to avoid crowded places and environments until further notice as a precautionary measure to help security operatives identify and neutralize potential attackers.

This information was included in a statement signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Kiyawa, and was made available to the press on Friday in Kano.

Additionally, the statement noted that a team of experts from the Command’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal, as well as Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear units, has been deployed to strategic locations and is on high alert.

“We encourage residents to report any emergency or suspicious activity to the nearest Police Station or contact the Kano State Police Command through the following emergency numbers”, the statement said.

“A team of experts from the Command’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear units have been deployed to strategic locations and are on high alert.

“The Kano State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and properties as well as maintaining law and order in Kano State.

“We appreciate the support and cooperation of the good people of Kano State and urge everyone to remain vigilant.”
