Kano LG election: Come out en mass, ambassador urges electorate

Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya, chairman of Citizens for Development and Education (CDE), has called on electorates in Kano to come out en masse and participate in the local government council elections scheduled for Saturday.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Waiya emphasised that citizens have the right to elect their chairman and councilor for a specified period.

He stressed the importance of active participation in the democratic process.

Waiya also expressed concern over conflicting judgments from different courts, which he believes can harm Nigeria’s democracy. He appealed to the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, to intervene and resolve these discrepancies.

As a peace advocate, Waiya assured that his group will continue to promote peace and protect the rights of all individuals, regardless of their tribe or religion. “Kano state belongs to everyone, and we will support whoever is elected by the people,” he said.

CDE, as a non-partisan organisation, is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that citizens’ rights are not denied or deprived.

The local government elections in Kano state are expected to be keenly contested, with various stakeholders urging citizens to exercise their franchise.
