The Secretary of the Taskforce on Development Control of the ministry, Alhaji Hamid Sidi Ali, made this known during a visit to the project site. He said the ministry had received reports from community members in the area, who revealed that they had only recently noticed the commencement of construction works.

He added that the project had obstructed access to farmlands and nearby villages, causing hardship for the affected communities.

According to him, “Upon receiving the report from members of the Arewawa and Allon Sarki communities, the ministry swiftly took action to investigate and address the issue.

“This is why we have come to verify, investigate, and find a way to resolve the matter.

“As you know, we have already placed notice boards to stop any further development. We are also working to restore access for the villages and landowners so they can continue to earn their livelihood,” the Secretary said.

He noted that the ministry is yet to identify the person responsible for the construction of the airstrip and called on the individual to come forward for further investigation.

He added, “We hereby invite the owner of the land to come forward for investigation. According to our records, there is no approval from the ministry for the construction of this airstrip. Therefore, we need him to come forward.”
