Kano govt relaxes curfew

The Kano State Government has announced a relaxation of the previously imposed curfew, adjusting it to 8 am to 2 pm, effective immediately.

This update was communicated in a statement signed by the Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye, and aims to allow the public to conduct their business and contribute to the restoration of peace in the state.

The adjustment is perceived by many as a gesture to facilitate Christian worshippers’ access to churches.

This follows a similar relaxation that was granted to Muslims on Friday, allowing them to attend Jum’at prayers during the curfew period.

The relaxation of the curfew is viewed as a positive move towards normalising the situation in Kano following recent disturbances.
