Kano govt partners UK-based charity foundation to boost Islamic education

Published by

The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, has said that the state government intends to partner with Muslim Charity for the United Kingdom to boost Islamic education in the state.

He made this known when he received a delegation from Muslim Charity for the United Kingdom.

Dr. Makoda added that the current administration is committed to overhauling the education sector and welcomes partnerships that can help achieve this goal.

He emphasized that the state government has declared a state of emergency on education and introduced new initiatives to improve education quality.

Dr. Makoda, however, said that the partnership comes at the right time and would enhance Islamic education in Kano State, particularly in Islamiyya schools.

He maintained that the state’s Islamiyya school system is well-structured, with a dedicated board overseeing operations to ensure quality education, stressing that the engagement will focus on providing modern learning materials to enhance performance.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, a copy of which was made available to the press in Kano.

Meanwhile, the leader of the delegation, Dr. Samira Abubakar Abdullahi of Muslim Charity for the United Kingdom, stated that the organization is already working in Nigeria, partnering with local organizations to support education and health sectors.

“The foundation assists in school renovation programs, promotes educational development, and provides health facilities,” she said.

“We are, therefore, at the ministry to discuss areas of collaboration and to brief the Honorable Commissioner about our activities,” she stated.

This partnership is a significant step towards enhancing Islamic education in Kano State, and the state government’s commitment to education is evident in its efforts to collaborate with organizations like Muslim Charity for the United Kingdom.
