Kano APC crisis: I am ready for reconciliation if everyone is treated fairly ― Shekarau

Published by

Senator representing Kano Central and leader of G7, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, has expressed the readiness of his camp to reconcile with the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led All Progressive Congress (APC) faction on the strict conditions that all members of the party are treated with equity and fairness.

This was just as the former Kano governor appealed to supporters not to be deterred or worried as the group would never compromise the interest of the generality.

It will be recalled that the APC Caretaker Committee led by the Chairman, Mai Mala Buni, and Jigawa State Governor, Mohammad Badaru Abubakar, on Tuesday met with the factions in a bid to reconcile them.

Shekarau who spoke in an over 4-minute audio released on Wednesday night said the committee did not rule on any issue after the discussion but rather appealed to the factions to close ranks for peace to reign.

He said: “The reconciliatory committee was inundated with our successes at the court and the present situation of the party.

“We told the committee that we are ready for peace discussion but with conditions. The conditions are: respect for party members, equity and fairness among all so that everybody’s rights are protected.”

According to him, “the struggle we are embarking on is not to create chaos or disrespect anybody but to ensure that the efforts create a level playing field for everybody.”

He added that “the Almighty God emphasized that reconciliation is very good but we should be sensible, honest and ensure fairness in carrying out the action.”

Shekarau hinted that the leadership of the party at the headquarters is already looking into the complaints submitted before it.
