Kaffy organises first dance workshop

Published by

Dance Queen and Guinness Book of World Record breaker, Mrs Kafayat Shafua-Ameh, popularly known as Kaffy, will be setting a new record in the Nigerian dance movement as she organises the first dance workshop in Nigeria.

The dancer, who has choreographed for most artistes worth their salt in the Nigerian entertainment industry, will also be inviting international dance choreographer, AY Hollywood, to up the ante.

Reputed to have worked with Chris Brown, Ciara, Rihanna and, most recently, Beyonce’s “On the Run Tour”, Nicki Minaj’s “Billboard Music Award” performance as well as Jennifer Lopez’s “American Music Award”, AY Hollywood will be headlining the workshop to be held in three states in Nigeria.

The art of dance has evolved in the performing arts industry, playing significant roles in the entertainment and socio-cultural life of Nigerians. By putting together the first pop-culture dance workshop, Kaffy will be making a statement about the career relevance as well as the professional status of the art.

Tagged, “the Dance Workshop 2017,” the project will enlighten, promote and create a dance network in Nigeria through a theoretical and practical workshop, says Kaffy in a statement made available to Saturday Tribune.

“The workshop is aimed at educating dancers on ethics and the business aspect of dance, making them understand the marketability of this industry. It will include fun dance classes, interactive/sessions and motivational talks.” The statement also read.

Kaffy broke the Guinness Book of World Record for the longest dance party in 2006 and has performed in many major concerts, locally and internationally. She has also featured in music videos for A-list Nigerian musicians and is recognised as the voice of the future Nigerian through the art of dance.

The Dance Workshop 2017 is not limited only to professional dancers, as it would also be an avenue for the whole family to engage in a few hours of fun dance sessions and also receive fitness tips through dance from the renowned dancer.

The event will be held in Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan and Accra between 6th and 11 June, 2017.
