Kaduna violence: NYSC suspends camp for prospective Corps members

The Management of  National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) Kaduna State has suspended the Batch C orientation camp following the violence that erupted in Kaduna over the weekend.
The confirmation was given by the coordinator of NYSC in the state, Hajiya Siddiq Walida, on Monday.
She advised prospective Corps members to abide by the directives pending when the situation in Kaduna improves.
Recall that on Thursday, communal clash erupted in Kasuwar Magani village of Kajuru local government area of the state resulting to the death of 55 people.
The state government imposed curfew in the village however, on Sunday a neighbouring villages of  Kujama, rido and Kamazo were plunged into crisis as youths barricaded roads and started attacking commuters.
It was as a result of the outbreak of violence in these areas that the state government imposed 24 hour curfew in the state capital and it’s environs.
In a statement from the management of NYSC it stated that, “The management of NYSC   wishes to inform all 2018 Batch C prospective Corps Members deployed to Kaduna State that the commencement of the Orientation Course earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 23rd October, 2018 has been suspended till further notice due to the current security situation and consequent curfew imposed by the state government.
“All affected prospective Corps Members are advised to remain at home until further notice from the NYSC Management.
“However, all other prospective Corps Members deployed to other States and FCT are to report at the various orientation camps on Tuesday, 23rd October, 2018 as scheduled.”
