Two teenagers, Abdulrahman Dahiru, 19, and Abba Bala, 17, have bagged one-month jail term for slaughtering stolen goats.
The presiding judge of the upper Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna, has sentenced two teenagers, Abdulrahman Dahiru and Abba Bala, to a one-month suspended jail term or a fine of ₦136,000 each for stealing goats.
The presiding judge, Emmanuel Samaila, suspended their sentences for one year in accordance with Section 257 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law.
“The defendants have been given a chance to prove they can behave well, being young men with bright futures and first-time offenders who have shown remorse.
If they breach the terms of their suspended sentence or commit another crime within the specified period, they will be made to serve the original prison term imposed on them,” Judge Samaila stated.

The teenagers were charged with criminal conspiracy and theft, contrary to Sections 58 and 270 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Esther Bishen, informed the court that Musa Makama of Borno Street reported the theft on March 20.
Bishen explained that the defendants, along with an accomplice named Mailaya Sagir, who is currently at large, went to Baba Emeka Street and stole Makama’s two goats worth ₦34,000. One of the goats was found in their possession, already slaughtered.
When the charge was read to them, Dahiru and Bala pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
