Kaduna PDP predicts mass defection from APC

Kaduna State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed optimism that some members who recently defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC) will soon return to the party.

Shuaibu Idris Miqati, Chairman of the PDP Appeal and Reconciliation Committee in Kaduna State, made this known in a statement, urging party members not to lose hope despite the recent defections.

Miqati acknowledged that the defections were sad and worrisome but emphasized that the committee has begun working to address grievances and make amends where necessary.

He noted that politics is dynamic, and challenges are a permanent feature, citing the example of 2014 when some members left the PDP, only to return later.

According to Miqati, the PDP is taking steps to address internal issues and win back defected members. He assured that the party will come out stronger and more united.

“Politics is dynamic and change just as challenge is permanent feature. You would see more defections from the APC to PDP soon.

“Be ready, be prepared, and watch out with care and calmness for the unfolding scenarios. If care is not taken history would repeat itself. In 2014 a number of people left the PDP, a handful, indeed many of these people are back to the party. We live to see.

“It’s indeed a very sad and most worrisome development. While there are indeed issues as regards a number of events like party congresses and primary elections leading to the emergence of flag bearers in the last local governments elections, it’s not sufficient a reason for people to jump ship more so that an Appeal and Reconciliation Committee has been inaugurated by the PDP,” the statement partly read.

The development is seen as a strategic move by the PDP to reclaim its lost glory in Kaduna State. It remains to be seen whether the party’s efforts will yield the desired results.
