CONCERNED members of Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), have out rightly rejected the 2016 constitutional amendment of the union’s constitution, citing illegality as a reason.
Leader of the group, Comrade Mohammed Mohammed, made the position of the group known on Saturday during a press briefing in Lafia the capital of Nasarawa State.
According to him, for a constitutional amendment to take place, all chapters of the federation must be notified to send their own contributions in line with rule 35 of the union’s constitution but the national body of the union refused to comply.
He explained that the union is fond of amending constitution anytime election is approaching to favour certain candidates, saying the recent amendment has squashed limitation on the number of times a candidate can contest.
The leader vowed that the group will not recognise the 2016 amended version of the constitution as it was illegally drafted adding that, if nothing is done to address the issue, his group will pull out of the union.
