Justify your victory with sustainable development, group tells Aiyedatiwa

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state has been urged to justify the support given to him by Ondo voters in the just-concluded governorship election in the state by ensuring sustainable development that would leave a positive and lasting legacy in place.

This was handed down by the convener of a support group, Mebinone Support Group, Asogbon Mebinone, who urged Aiyedatiwa to put in place a lasting legacy that would last and have an impact on the life of the people of the state.

Asogbon noted that the achievements of Aiyedatiwa in the last 10 months gave Aiyedatiwa and the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory in last Saturday’s election.

He said “You must use your victory in this election to address genuine grievances noticed in some areas during the election. We focus on the development of our God-given space, the Sunshine State.

“Don’t be distracted in the discharge of your sacred mandate, let the people continue to be at the centre of all decisions. Our state has no business with poverty.

“Sincere, purposeful, and focused leadership should have little difficulty in harnessing the vast resources, both human and natural and you must put in everything to justify the trust reposed in you”

“Our group being one of the critical stakeholders whose contribution to the success of the just-concluded elections cannot be underestimated, heartily congratulate your Excellency on your successful declaration as the governor-elect.

“We urge Your Excellency to make good your campaign promises and justify your choice by the people of the state through their votes.”

Mebinone noted that Aiyedatiwa is the first governor from Ilaje extraction since the creation of the state some 45 years ago and he will write his name in gold, saying “It gives me courage and confidence that Mr. Governor’s leadership will bring development, infrastructure, and progress to Ondo State.

“During the campaign, it was evident from the number of people, NGOs, and groups supporting him. Both rural and urban areas stood behind him. The good people of Ondo State are going to benefit greatly under his leadership.

He said the governor has demonstrated intelligence and loyalty to his boss and said before his boss passed away, there were public statements where the former governor praised him and acknowledged his potential, and said such a public endorsement shows that Aiyedatiwa had earned his boss’s trust and admiration.

We will continue to give you support. I have supported Aiyedatiwa since his time as an Ondo State NDDC representative. I believed he had potential but never imagined he would become governor.

“When he emerged as deputy governor, I was overwhelmed and felt the need to contribute. I mobilized people, organized campaigns, and even branded vehicles. The group exceeded expectations, playing a significant role in his success.”
