An explosion has rocked a section of the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) in Bodo Community, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, sparking a massive fire.
According to report, the incident occurred late Monday night near the Bodo-Bonny Road, which is currently under construction.
A video that surfaced on Tuesday morning showed thick black smoke billowing into the sky as flames spread rapidly into the surrounding mangrove forest.
It remains unclear whether the explosion is linked to recent threats by some militant groups to attack oil installations due to the ongoing political crisis in the state.
The TNP is a federal pipeline responsible for transporting gas to the Bonny Export Terminal in Rivers State.
