PEOPLE in Iwollo community in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State can now heave a sigh of relief as the state police command has opened a new station in the town.
Speaking with Maka Ndigbo on Monday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu, said crime and other anti-social activities would be reduced if not completely wiped out in the area, stressing that the people of the community would now sleep with their eyes closed .
Amarizuu explained that the state police command opened the station in order to take policing to the grassroots as well as effectively encourage community partnership for a safe and secured environment.
“The new police station is located at Iwollo in Ezeagu Local Government Area with its headquarters along Iwollo -Olo-Umulokpa Road Ezeagu. The police station is to cover Akama,Amankwo,Amansiodo,Ihonyia,Neke,Oyofo,Aguoboiwollo,Okpogho,Awha Agbabo,Awha-Ndiagu,Imezi olo,Amandim 1 and 11,Ezema,Awene,Ogulogu among others”, he said.
Expressing his happiness over the new police station, a youth in the area, Maxwell Eze, also said that the sensitisation programme of the state police command which included Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) would go a long way in reducing crime in the state.
It was learnt that the POCACOV is being carried out by the command’s public Relations Department.
“We are happy with the way police are carrying out their security programme in the state. It will make the cordial relationship existing between members of the public and them stronger,” he added.
