Journalists must be allowed to carry out their job without harassment — Gov Sule’s aide

As journalists in Nasarawa join their counterparts across the globe to commemorate the International Day to end impunity for crimes against Journalists, Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Media and Publicity, Doctor Nawani Aboki has called on journalists in the state to adhere strictly to media law and ethics in discharging their responsibilities of dissemination accurate information to the people for the overall peace and development of the state.

Dr Aboki stated this in a statement issued to journalists in Lafia to commemorate the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists.

He said as Governor Abdullahi Sule’s doors are always open to rub minds with journalists on issues of development, saying journalists are the mirrors of any society and serve as a bridge between the government and the people to achieve meaningful development.

He explained; “journalists must be allowed to carry out their job without harassment, attacks and intimidation from any sector of the society” urging people of the state to see journalists as agents of peace and national development.

He added that the welfare of journalists is paramount to ensure that an enabling environment is provided for media professionals in carrying out their job without intimidation as he challenged them to focus on developmental journalism as impunity against journalists has ended completely under his Governor Sule’s government in the state.
