Josh2funny’s hilarious America’s Got Talent audition elicits knocks, praises

Published by

Mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media have trailed the performance of popular Nigerian comedian, Josh Alfred, popularly known as Josh2funny, at the America Got Talent (AGT) show in the United States.

The 32-year-old, who is famous for his YouTube skit called “The Audition,” became the first Nigerian skit maker to appear as a contestant on the AGT reality show.

Confirming his audition performance, the organizers of AGT on their official Twitter page, posted the video clip of his hilarious performance and captioned it, “Josh Alfred is not giving up! #AGT. This contestant won’t give up! Josh Alfred auditions three times.”

After his entertaining introduction in the video, he presented a humorous act that initially confused the judges, causing them to miss the intended meaning. The comedian appeared thrice as the fastest reader, best magician, and best rapper during his performance.

However, the comedian’s performance continues to generate both knocks and praises at the highly coveted talent show. While some applauded his strategy, others berated him, saying that he could have taken advantage of the opportunity much better.

Reacting to his audition on Twitter, popular social media critic, Daniel Regha who described his performance on the global stage as a waste of opportunity,  wrote, “Nigerians will applaud anything as long as a Nigerian is getting the hype, & it’s beyond shameful!. Josh misused the America’s Got Talent platform by wasting everyone’s time, which isn’t funny. Thousands audition each year but only a few get selected, so why waste the opportunity?”

Another user, @EmmyWorthYrn

wrote, “He just went to embarrass himself honestly that platform people dream of being there and look at what he did with his opportunity.”

@oghenriejunior tweeted, “There’s nothing funny about what “Josh too Funny” did on that stage if we’re being honest. His videos on Instagram are even funnier than that stage performance.”

On the contrary, reality star, @Simply_Tacha tweeted, “Lool Josh is the funniest!! Really Big to make it to America Got Talent!! “

Ankyger @AfamDeluxo wrote, “Josh 2 funny is unbelievably daring.  It takes lots of guts to be able to do what he did.  If you have never climbed a stage, you won’t understand. For him to face an audience different from his usual audience and even make them laugh is incredibly audacious.  S/o to Josh! ❤”

“Just watched the Video of Josh2funny at AGT and I’m like HOW! – Do you know what it means to stand in front of 1 of the biggest stage in the world.. a different audience & made them LAUGH!! Comedy MASTERPIECE! It was well-planned & Delivered! Josh is a gift we should be proud of!” @Buchi_Lanba opined.
