The Jigawa State Government has approved to commence the payment of the new national minimum wage by this month as the government has fixed Tuesday to meet with the state’s branch of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to commence negotiations on the percentage for the three categories of the workers.
This was contained in a press statement issued signed and made available to our reporter in Dutse the state capital by the Acting Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila “the state government representation and labour union to meet and start negotiation on the new minimum wage on Tuesday 8th October 2019”.
Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila explained that governor Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar of the state has already constituted a 19 man committee to negotiation and implementing of the new minimum wage in the state.
According to the statement, the government committee is to be chaired by the deputy governor, Alhaji Umar Namadi and appointed the acting head of civil service, Alhaji Husain Kila as secretary.
The members of the committee were the permanent secretary, government house, permanent Secretary, Directorate of Establishments, office of the Head of the Service, permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, permanent secretary, Ministry for Local Government.

Others members Include the permanent secretary, Directorate of Salary and Pension, permanent Secretary, Directorate of Budget and Economic Planning, the Auditor Generals of the State and Local Government and Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board.
The committee members also include Executive Chairman, Board of Internal Revenue, Chairman ALGON, Secretary ALGON, Director of Local Government Inspection, Ministry for Local Government, Director Treasury Operations and the Ministry of Finance.
Others are Director Salary, Directorate of Salary and Pensions, Director Assessment, Board of Internal Revenue, and Deputy Director Accounts, State Universal Basic Education Board.
While on the labour union side has the Chairman Joint Public Service Negotiations Council, Comrade Hassan Auwalu, Abba Mustapha Yola – Chairman TUC, Sunusi Alhassan – Chairman NLC and Hamisu Umar – Senior Civil Service Association.
Others were Abdulkadir Yunusa, Chairman NUT, Muhammad Gudaji, President NULGE, Sanusi Abdu Kanya – Chairman National Civil Service Union, Basiru Yusuf – Chairman, ASUP, Hazakeel Hussaini Kore – Chairman Nurses & Midwives and Abubakar Yusha’u – Ag. NLC Secretary.
