Jigawa releases over N2bn to 746 retirees, deceased workers’ families

The Jigawa State government has released a total sum of N2.024 billion as a terminal benefit to retired and the families of deceased civil servants in the State.

The executive secretary of the Jigawa state and local government contributory pension scheme board, Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu Musa, stated this while speaking to newsmen shortly before the commencement of payment: “The amount is the terminal benefit for the Month of August 2023.”

The executive secretary explained that the amount being paid will cover the retirement benefit, death pension, and death pension balance for the 746 beneficiaries from the state, local governments, and local education departments of the state.

According to him “N1,785, 297,061.55 was paid to 251 retirees who retired from State service, local government councils, as well as local government education authorities”.

Alhaji Kamilu Musa maintained that the families of 27 deceased employees from the state civil service, 22 persons from the local government, and 29 persons from the local education authorities stand at N212,071,042.96.

He said a total of 29 are on death pension balance and were given N26,856,455.06.

“Jigawa is up-to-date in the payment of entitlements to retirees, which includes those who died in active service.“

Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu Musa noted that the state government, through the board, is committed to ensuring the welfare of its workers for better service delivery and the well-being of retirees after service.

He commended Governor Malam Umar Namadi for his support and cooperation in the scheme.
