A middle-aged man named Dauda Kafinta was reportedly killed in a violent clash between farmers and herdsmen in Gululu village, located in the Miga Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Reports from the area indicate that four other individuals sustained various degrees of injuries during the conflict, which occurred on Friday morning.

In an interview with Tribune Online, the village head of Gululu, Malam Muhammad Sarkin-Dori, stated, “We woke up this morning to find that a provision shop had been broken into by suspected thieves. Some residents decided to follow the footpaths of the suspected thieves, which led them to a nearby Fulani settlement, where the violent clash took place.”

The village head added that “upon the seen the footpath tracers the herders confronted the people with the shot of bow and arrow after seeing them at their settlement. It’s not yet clear whether the stolen items were recovered there but we have appealed for calm and reported the incident to the security agencies”.

Malam Sarkin-Dori maintained that four villagers from the farmers’ side were referred to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital after their initial admission at Jahun General Hospital in the state.

He said one person, Dauda Kafinta, who was declared missing during the melee was later found dead with bow and arrow injuries.

However, efforts to reach Mr. Lawan Adam, the Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, were unsuccessful, as all calls to his number went unanswered.
