Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, warned all political appointees against laxity and impunity in carrying out their assigned responsibilities.
During his speech at the swearing-in ceremony for 33 special advisers and assistants at the Banquet Hall in the government house in Dutse, the governor emphasised that he would not hesitate to address any political failure in their official duties.
Malam Umar Namadi highlighted that all appointees were chosen after extensive consultations: “I expect nothing less than your utmost dedication and utilisation of your experience and energy to drive progress in Jigawa State.”
He stated, “There have been regrettable instances in public service delivery resulting in significant financial losses every year in Jigawa State.”
“Our administration is committed to addressing these challenges, such as high rates of child and maternal mortality, increased numbers of out-of-school children, poverty levels, and enhancing agricultural productivity, educational outcomes, access to quality healthcare, wealth creation, growth, and development.”
“We have outlined a 12-point agenda as a framework to make ‘Jigawa Great.’ To achieve this, we must exert ourselves, embrace patriotism, demonstrate selfless commitment, ensure fairness and justice, and avoid negligence and irresponsibility in fulfilling our public duties,” Governor Namadi emphasised.
While assuring the new appointees that he would provide an enabling environment for their work, he cautioned that he would only accept tangible results.
Governor Malam Umar Namadi has appointed over 150 special advisers and assistants so far, aiming to run an all-inclusive government with effective representation reaching down to the grassroots.
