Jigawa Gov flags off palliative distribution to PWDs, orphans

Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi Danmodi, has initiated a palliative distribution programme aimed at assisting over 108,000 destitute individuals across the 27 local government areas in the state.

Launching the programme in Gumel town, the headquarters of Gumel local government area in the state, Governor Malam Umar Namadi stated that the government has allocated a total sum of N1.080 billion to be disbursed to the beneficiaries.

The governor elaborated, “The state government has set aside the sum of N1.080 billion to be disbursed to 108,000 beneficiaries across the 287 political wards in the 27 local government areas in the state.”

In addition to the cash, he mentioned, “There are also 45,000 50-kg bags of rice, 34,000 cartons of spaghetti, and 40,000 100-kg bags of maize.”

Governor Namadi emphasised that “this cash and foodstuffs are to be shared among People Living with disabilities, Orphans, and the elderly.”

He outlined the distribution framework, stating, “Under this framework, N40 million will be allocated to each of the 27 local governments for distribution to 1,000 youths, 1,000 women, 1,000 elderly, and 1,000 persons with physical challenges. We are anticipating that 108,000 people will receive N10,000 each.”
