Nigerian-American singer Jidenna Theodore Mobisson, who is mononymously called Jidenna has sent a collaboration signal to three top Nigerian artistes, namely, Burnaboy, Wizkid and Davido.
The singer was at the Vibe.NG forum titled “Community Meeting With The Chief: Album Versus Singles In Digital Era” held in Lagos recently where he gave the hint.
The Classic Man singer, while answering questions about his music career, said that he was geared towards building a bridge between people, races and nations with his music, revealing that it was the reason his songs have had a blend of different cultural sounds especially the high-life blend with hip-hop.
He also said he wanted everyone to relate to his music.
Jidenna, who recently released his debut album titled “The Chief,” a song he explained was named after his late father’s title status which he intends to attain through his music, said that one of the ways he intends to popularise his music in Nigeria was to work with some Nigerian artistes from different genres of music.
“I can decide to do a record with BurnaBoy, Wizkid or Davido,” he said.
Jidenna also revealed that he spent thirty days in solitary confinement in order to write the songs of his debut album.
He advised artistes to see themselves as small business concerns as such mind-set will further their chances of survival in the industry.
The forum had panelists from the diverse areas of the music industry in Nigeria from Omalicha a broadcaster to Douglas Jekan an OAP and Music Enthusiasts Godwin Tom, Founder, Imanage Africa and Micheal Ugwu, General Manager, Sony Music West Africa.
The session was moderated by Folu Storms a Broadcaster, VJ and Columnist. Media partners for the event were; MTV Base, Pulse.NG, EbonyLife TV and BellaNaija.
Celebrity guests in attendance were Waje, Mai Atafo, Ono Bello, Godwin Ukaegbu, Muna Okey-Nwosu, Oreoluwa Peters, Makiada Moka and Beverly Naya.
