One of the emerging and prominent youth domestic tourism promoters in Nigeria, Jibola Oluseye Abati, Founder of the Africa Travel Content Creator Conference has added another feather to his cap as the he was honoured with two distinguished awards at the 2023 Akwaaba African Travel Market (AfTM) in Lagos.
Abati, whose niche travel business has created an edge in the Nigeria domestic tourism space as well as a content clout on the social media platform, received the Champion of Domestic Youth Tourism in Nigeria award and the Africa Travel 100 under 40 awards.
Speaking during the presentation, the organiser of the AfTM, Mr Ikechi Uko, commended the energy and effort invested in the promotion of domestic tourism, adding that Mr Abati is one of the generation promoter that will take domestic tour to the next level.
In his remarks, double award winner, who spoke with high spirit, told Travelpulse&MICE that the honour received at Akwaaba is not only a testimony of his domestic tourism passion but a certification for him to put more effort to tell the Nigeria story more through domestic tours.
“I was not only happy for the recognition but feel encouraged that people are watching and appreciating a genuine effort invested in tourism promotion in Nigeria.
“This singular recognition at this MICE platform is an incentive for people in my field of play to do more. I am not only packaging domestic tours to open our different destination offers open for leisure and holiday seekers, but also telling the Nigeria story through content creation on the social media platform.
Nigeria is a unique destination to explore. Many people want to come to Nigeria, but there is no good photos and video to show the world that Nigeria is far better than the western stereotypes we see every day. So by exploring rich potentialities through domestic tours we will be able to showcase our beautiful destination to those who are willing to come.
“Our story is better told by us and that is what the Akwaaba is doing; not only telling the Nigeria story but also creating a platform for Africa market to position itself and blossom.
“Our number is a niche to tap into for a good economic future, what we need is to develop that intra-Africa travel spirit get the desire market boom,” he added.
