Toye Arulogun, who commended the Oluloye JCI under the leadership of Alade Mustapha and added that the standard of education is improving and government’s policies to turn around the sector are yielding fruitful results.
According to him, Ibadan is no longer the dirtiest in the country and the state government has put up machinery to sustain cleanliness in the state while working assiduously to offset arrears of workers’ salaries.
Governor Ajimobi’s Special Assistant on eMedia, Tunde Muraina, was also honoured with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his valuable contribution to the advancement of humanitarian service during the convention.
The Temi-Alade Mustapha administration was lauded for the award of Best Local Development Programme to JCI Oluyole for its DO AGRIC Project while many other projects executed by the team was given adjudged successful.
Among the programmes executed includes a partnership with Premier Medicaid, Oyo State Ministry of Health, Association for Reproduction and Family Health (ARFH) to carry out environmental sanitation and medical outreach in Aba Nla community, Oluyole Local Government, Ibadan on the 29th of April, 2017. 176 adults and 163 children were the beneficiaries of the project and at the end, about 70 per cent of the people tested positive to Malaria Parasite, hence the plan for a follow up exercise already themed, “Nothing But Nets” for the same community to propagate the need for mosquito nets.
The Do Agric – Local Economic Development programme is another turning point in the agenda of JCI in 2017; it was not only adjudged successful but the project qualified them for an award. To execute the project, JCI Oluyole partnered with the Oyo State Government to encourage youths to engage in Agriculture and support those that are ready to start up business in this regard.
The project commenced on January 29 with campaigns on social media till February 4 after which there was an awareness rally from NTA complex through Agodi gate, Bus Stop, ALI , Oke, Yemetu, Total Garden and ended at Ikolaba community. A seminar held at Ikolaba grammar school and over 50 people participated.
At the end of the project, youths were encouraged to start up their Agriculture business and participants made commitments to go into different kinds of agriculture businesses which JCI followed up through a mentoring arrangement
The club also worked on empowerment of the girl child. Empowering the girl child project was executed on the June 23, 2017 in Oba Abass Aleshiloye Grammar School, Eleyele, Ibadan with a hundred female students in attendance; they were trained on career choices, self development and actualization of goals, entrepreneurial development, life after school, skills acquisition, financial literacy and savings respectively.
The project was on the belief that girls when empowered can improve the well being of their families, their communities, and their country – multiplying the impact on society and no one is more vulnerable than an uneducated adolescent girl, living in poverty.
At the end of the training, the school management expressed their gratitude and further pleaded that there should be a replica of the project for the boy child since the school is for both gender as they believed that this will further help balance the reality of the trainings received.
And for the JCI Oluyole, it was a good and fruitful year as attested by the stewardship account.
