JCI Oluyole, Hospital CMD hold free medical outreach for Ibadan traders

In a bid to promote good health and well-being in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3), the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Oluyole, in collaboration with the CMD Academy and Mokola Hilltop Hospitals-Dr. Olasunkanmi Adesina, organized a free medical outreach for traders at the Olorunda Anajere Market, Iwo-Road, Ibadan on Saturday.

The outreach, recorded a remarkable turnout with a total of 121 market men and women benefiting from free medical consultations, blood pressure checks, malaria testing and treatment, as well as drug administration. Significantly, 50 of the beneficiaries also received free eye tests and corrective eyeglasses.

Speaking on behalf of the market traders, Baba Loja of Olorunda Anajere Market, Mr. Salami Asimiyu, expressed deep appreciation to JCI Oluyole and Dr. Olasunkanmi Adesina and the partnering hospitals. “Indeed, health is wealth. Most of us are constantly working with no time to go for medical checkups until our bodies break down. This initiative is timely and greatly appreciated. We thank JCI Oluyole and Academy Hospital for this kind gesture,” he said.

Addressing the gathering, the 2025 President of JCI Oluyole, JCIN Amb. Busola Joseph, emphasized the essence of the outreach, describing it as an annual initiative of the organizations aimed at advancing SDG 3—Good Health and Well-being.

“Only a healthy person can work. This outreach is not just a one-day intervention but a call to action for our market men and women to prioritize their health,” she said. “Early detection saves lives. I urge all beneficiaries to take advantage of this exercise, follow up on any health concerns, and make it a habit to go for regular checkups—especially at Academy and Mokola Hilltop Hospitals who have shown great support.”

Also speaking, the Matron representing Academy Hospital, Mrs. Rebecca Dairo urged the market traders to adopt healthier lifestyles. “Drink plenty of water, eat more fruits and vegetables, and drastically reduce your sugar intake,” she advised. “Health is wealth. Get enough rest, and ensure you sleep well to feel rejuvenated and energized. Don’t wait until sickness forces you to rest—choose wellness.”

The outreach had the active participation of the members of JCI Oluyole, including Past Presidents, JCI Senators, Board Members, and general members—all working together to bring health services closer to the underserved.

JCI Oluyole has reiterated its commitment to making sustainable impact in the society through meaningful projects, community development, and strategic partnerships. The success of the Medical Outreach once again affirms the organization’s belief that service to humanity is indeed the best work of life.
