In a rhythmic celebration of Nigeria’s Independence Day, US-based Nigerian musician James Olikpe, popularly known as “Jay The King,” has gifted music enthusiasts a vibrant new single titled “Your Matter.” Released on October 1st, 2023, this track is a captivating fusion of smooth lyrics, soul-stirring vocals, and traditional Afrobeat rhythms, promising listeners an irresistible groove that will set their feet tapping.

When asked about the inspiration behind the song, James revealed, “I wanted to create something relatable for all those who have tirelessly tried to bring joy to someone’s life, only to eventually give up on a person who never seemed to make time for them. I believe this is a story that resonates with everyone at some point in their lives.” The single was produced by the fast-rising music producer, Playboy X.

“Your Matter” showcases Jay The King’s unique musical style, drawing inspiration from the iconic sounds of Afrobeat legends like Fela Anikulapo Kuti, 2Face Idibia, and PSquare. His music effortlessly blends Afrobeat and Afropop, captivating audiences worldwide.

Although Jay The King currently resides in San Francisco, California, his roots lie in Nigeria, having spent his formative years in Ibadan and later studying Business Administration at the esteemed University of Lagos in Lagos.
