IYD 2024: Address unemployment, expert urges Tinubu, Oyebanji

An agropreneur specialist, Dr Tunmise Ayodele, has called on President Bola Tinubu and state Governors to urgently address rising unemployment, food crisis, kidnapping and other vices, describing them as serious threats to Nigerian youth development.

Ayodele, in a statement to commemorate International Youth Day 2024 on Monday, said the challenges currently confronting young people in Nigeria are also threatening national development and cohesion.

The community development expert said criminal elements have been exploiting unemployment to lure young minds into kidnapping, drug trafficking, prostitution, and organ harvesting, among other criminal adventures.

He urged both employed and unemployed youths to go into farming, just as he called on the government to support plans that would address hunger and food insecurity in the country.

Ayodele specifically urged Ekiti state government to support and promote youth initiatives and provide security for investments in the state.

He explained that he has invested heavily in farming and processing in Ikere, Igbara-Odo, and Ado Ekiti with a focus on ending hunger, achieving food security, and promoting sustainable agriculture in the state.

Ayodele, who is the founder of Enshet Crops Solution LTD, appealed to governments at all levels to empower youths with the necessary skills needed for them to become leaders and change agents in society.
