According to a statement issued by Arogbonlo Israel, Chief Press Secretary to Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan, she made this statement on Friday while commemorating the 2024 International Women’s Day.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan underscored the importance of empowering women with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in leadership roles. She urged women to take up more political positions and contribute to nation-building.

“We join Nigerian women in celebrating International Women’s Day. We pray for more women in politics and the Senate to contribute to nation-building; women are the bedrock of society,” said the Senate President during the unveiling.

The United Nations has designated the year 2024’s theme as ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,’ with a focus on addressing economic disempowerment, while the campaign theme for this year is ‘Inspire Inclusion.’ It highlights the significance of diversity and empowerment across all sectors of society.
