I’ve software that detects number of guns around me — Jimoh Ibrahim

Jimoh Ibrahim, the senator representing Ondo South, disclosed that he possesses a software application on his phone capable of detecting the number of firearms in his vicinity, no matter where he goes.

As reported by The Cable, Ibrahim made this revelation on Wednesday during a senate session while contributing to a motion brought forward by Ali Ndume, the senator representing Borno South.

Ndume’s motion focused on the recent suicide bombings in Gwoza, a local government area within his senatorial district.

Ibrahim mentioned that he was aware of the number of guns around him as he spoke, which he estimated at 277. He attributed this to the national assembly being located within the Three Arms Zone, where an armory is stationed at Aso Rock.

“For intelligence purposes, the army should have devices on their phones to locate these criminals,” he suggested. “As I sit here, I regularly check my phone and know the number of guns nearby. There are over 277 guns.”

Ndume highlighted the Lake Chad region, Sambisa Forest, and Mandara Mountains as critical areas requiring heightened attention from security agencies.

He said, “These attacks have significantly raised concerns about the security situation in the region, which has been a hotspot for terrorist activities over the years.”

This situation calls for concerted and coordinated efforts from the security agencies to address the insecurity in Borno State and other affected parts of the country.”

On Saturday, suspected female suicide bombers detonated explosives in Gwoza LGA of Borno. In response, a curfew has been imposed on Gwoza amidst suspicions of another potential attack.
