IUO has produced over 16,000 graduates — VC

The Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Okada, (IUO), Prof. Ikechukwu Ezemonye, has disclosed that the university since its inception on May 10th, 1999 has graduated over 16,000 (sixteen thousand) graduates across different fields of studies

Ezemonye made the disclosure during a World press conference preceding the University’s 25th Anniversary billed for May 10, this year.

He maintained that the institution over the years has achieved remarkable successes in teaching, research, capacity building, innovative studies and the production of exceptional graduates in different fields of endeavours.

The Vice-Chancellor attributed the achievements recorded thus far in the institution to the extraordinary vision and mission of its founder and Proprietor, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin.

He said: “We are filled with immense joy and gratitude as we mark 25 years of academic excellence, advancing knowledge and creating opportunities.

“Over the past 25 years, Igbinedion University has evolved into a beacon of intellectual repository, a crucible for innovation and nurturing ground for future leaders and game changers.

“The growth trajectory witnessed in the University has been driven by a culture of innovation, creativity, adaptability, digital literacy, technological fluency and the relentless commitment of the Board of Regents, and other stakeholders of the University,” he posited.

Ezemonye while disclosing that the management of the University has lined up various activities to mark the week-long event said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former president Goodluck and Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar are some of the dignitaries expected to grace the 25th anniversary of IUO.

“The attainment of 25 years of corporate existence is a remarkable landmark worthy of celebration. Thus, the University has planned a grand celebration to commemorate the event.

“The week-long event has already commenced with a free medical outreach to communities in Okada and environs which successfully took place at IUO Teaching Hospital”, Ezemonye said.

In the areas of internationalisation, partnerships, resource mobilisation and entrepreneurship, the Vice Chancellor maintained that the University has a robust internalisation profile and partnership across Africa, Europe, America and across the globe.

He added that the institution is operating a smart campus, covering 155mbps (ISTM) bandwidth amongst others, this even as revealed that the school has robust centres of excellence, contributing to the school’s research and development and efforts.

Recall that IUO holds the distinction of being the first licensed Private University in Nigeria, certified by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The University’s Certificate of Registration,/, Approval, No. 001, was granted on May 10th, 1999 by the military administration of General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

High point of the press conference was the unveiling of the institution’s 25th-anniversary logo by Ezemonye.
