THE President of the Muslim Community of Lagos, Alhaji Mohammed Oyinlomo Danmole, has stated that it is high time the nation’s security forces took the fight directly to the hideouts of terrorists, whom he described as foreign enemies of the state.
He likened the current security challenges affecting parts of the country, particularly the North East and the Middle Belt, to guerrilla warfare.
Alhaji Danmole made these comments during the inaugural Central Working Committee meeting of the new leadership of the Muslim Community of Lagos.
The meeting was held at the Conference Room of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Lagos branch, located in the Surulere area of the state.
He emphasised the need for the government to identify and address the root causes of the problem, while acknowledging that the terrain of the affected regions is difficult to navigate.
Danmole expressed the belief that the current insecurity is not insurmountable. He stated that overcoming the crisis requires residents of the affected areas to provide useful information, while security forces must demonstrate the courage to confront the terrorists with superior firepower.

He also expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu is well-prepared and has the capacity to fulfill the mandate entrusted to him by the people.
Regarding the state of the economy, Danmole pointed out that the recent Fitch ratings indicate that the economy is gradually recovering. However, he advised the government to prioritise policies that will sustain this recovery.
According to him, the Muslim Community of Lagos is ready to collaborate with the Lagos State government to provide solutions to some of the identified challenges facing residents.
Alhaji Danmole stated that the Muslim Community of Lagos is committed to fulfilling its mission to improve the well-being of Muslims, noting that its approach to empowerment will differ from the distribution of palliatives, focusing instead on more sustainable solutions.
