ITF trains 300 youths on different skills in Kaduna

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) under its National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP) has trained 300 youths in different skills in Kaduna.

The beneficiaries who went through training that included: Autogelle and Beauty Care, Solar Energy Installation, Domestic Electrical wiring ad well ad welding and fabrication were given start-up packs to work with.

According to the Fund, the programme is one of the numerous skills acquisition intervention programmes introduced to facilitate the achievement of the Federal government policy on job and wealth creation.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony held at PAN Learning Centre, Kaduna on Friday, the ITF Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Sir Joseph Ari, who was represented by Mrs Hussaina Zubairu, Zonal Director in Charge of Audit Unit, said the programme is specifically designed to focus on skills acquisition for the purposes of creating jobs to stem rampant unemployment and breed a new generation of entrepreneurs, who will help transform the economic landscape of the country.

He noted that since inception, the NISDP has equipped over 200,000 Nigerians nationwide and 3,000 with skills for employability and entrepreneurship in Kaduna State.

According to the Director-General, the training which was practically based is prepared to help the privileged graduates to know how to fish and teach others to do same.

While warning the beneficiaries against selling the start-up packs, he urged stakeholders to key into the programme adding that skill acquisition is the best way to tackle unemployment anywhere in the world.

“We observed that rising criminality in Nigeria is due to the high rate of unemployment and this is why our commitment to skill acquisition is premised on addressing the unemployment problem in the country.

” Buhari’s administration has made a tremendous effort to tackle unemployment problem, but it is not enough, so, we appealed to state governments and organisations to support ITF to provide at least start-up packs .” he added.

All stakeholders, who spoke at the event commended efforts of ITF for the training scheme and the employment opportunities created, which they believe will help reduce crime rates in the state.

The high point of the occasion was the distribution of start-up packs to the three hundred beneficiaries in Kaduna State.
