This was disclosed by the Director General (DG), of the Fund, Joseph N. Ari, yesterday, in Dutse the capital of Jigawa State, said out of the trainees there were 113 male and125 female.
According to him, the 300 youths were trained on three different vocational skills under its National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP) in Jigawa state.
The DG, who was represented by his Director, Technical and Vocational skills Training, Isiaka Shehu, stated that out of the trainees, all of the women received training on sewing while 63 on welding and 50 others on plumbering.
He added that the trainees were selected from the 27 local government areas of the state and that the three months training was conducted in seven designated ceenters across the state saying, out of the 300 that had attended the training 238 were given a start-up pack aimed at enabling them to establish their own businesses.
“The names of the remaining 62 that were yet to get the start-up packs have been compiled against the next batch of distribution. The training is in line of the mandate of ITF as part of its contribution in federal government policy of job/wealth creation and poverty eradication.
“The decision to provide the packs was informed by our tracking and monitoring of trainees of earlier phases, which revealed that 90 percent of those supported with the start-up packs went to be successful entrepreneurs. This phase of the programme will benefit over 11,000 trainees across the 36 states of the federation and FCT.”

In his address, the governor Mohammadu Badaru Abubakar, who was represented by his Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdulkadir Adamu Fanini, commended the Fund for the training and that assured the Fund of the present government committment on all areas of colloboration.
