The Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, has presented empowerment items and start-up stipends to 100 men and women, from the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).
The commissioner made the presentation at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka, on Monday.
The beneficiaries were evenly chosen from the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State.
They have trained a couple of months ago in various skills such as sewing and tilling, through sponsorship offered by ITF.
Those trained in sewing were given sewing machines and tilling tools to those trained in tilling.
Among beneficiaries was Miss Chinwendu Nebolisa age 15, from Ihiala, who made headlines on social media, a few months ago, as a child bride when she was forced into marriage to a 56-year-old man, from Ozubulu, both in Anambra State.
The young girl was rescued through efforts of the commissioner who facilitated her rehabilitation trained in sewing.
