Itching after bath

Published by

I am 18 years of age. For the past 3 to 4 years, I have been battling with body itching that usually comes after having a bath. I have tried different kinds of medicated soaps but the problem still persists. Somebody asked me to try herbal medicine but I don’t know if this will help. Please help me.

Itching after bath can be due to the kind of water, soap or sponge that you normally use for your bath. It has been confirmed that water, however clean it may appears could also have some amount of chemicals which may irritate the skin. Some skins are also sensitive to being scrubbed with sponges. Finally, some hitherto otherwise quiet skin diseases can be aggravated when the skin is scrubbed with sponges. In order to avoid this kind of problem, the following tips should be adhered to; Have a quick shower in cool room-temperature water. Rub the body with your hand. Do not use a sponge or other rough object to scrub the skin. Dry thoroughly after a cool bath. Air dry for longer. If an electric fan or air conditioning is available then try to cool down before putting on clothes. Apply a thick emollient like petroleum jelly over the affected area. Urea creams or calamine lotion may also be helpful in small areas where the itching is occurring. Antihistamines and other medication should only be used if the itching persists, is severe and not resolving with the above conservative measures.
