Deaconess Oluwatoyin Isiaka, the Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele and the newly installed Seriki Adinni of Yewaland, Hon Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, on Saturday.
The member of the House of Representatives representing Yewa North/Imeko Afon, Hon Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has been installed as the 3rd Seriki Adinni of Yewaland, on Saturday.
The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, at the turbaning and conferment ceremony held at the Ansarudeen Primary School, Imeko, urged the new Muslim to use the position to strengthen the unity, spiritual growth of Muslims, not only in Yewaland in particular, but Ogun State in general.
Abiodun represented by his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele described the neq Seriki Adinni, as a patriotic and respected politician, saying the recognition by Muslims in Yewa community was timely and richly deserved.
He said, “GNI as he is fondly called has consistently exemplified humility, integrity, discipline and strength that command respect across all works of life both at the National Assembly, private enterprise and within the Muslim Ummah.
“Hon. Isiaka has remained a dignified ambassador of Imeko, Yewaland and Ogun West, principled and always committed to the progress of his people. As Seriki Adinni I have no doubt that you will bring the same quality to strengthen the unity and spiritual growth of the yewa muslim community.”
While saying the honour was not just a recognition of personal merit but rather a call to duty and deeper service, he implored him to embrace it wholeheartedly with Grace and sincerity.
The guest lecturer, Sheik Tajudeen Olaotan, said Seriki title is m one of the biggest Islamic title and the turbaning of Isiaka was divine.
He charged the new Seriki Adinni to brace up for the task ahead and be determined and focus.
Olaotan also urged the new Seriki to work towards uniting Muslims in Yewaland, embrace human capital development, by empowering Yewa people educationally, build infrastructural development particularly renovation and building of Mosques, empowering the Imams as custodians of religion.
In his acceptance speech Isiaka expressed gratitude to the League of Imams and Alfas of Yewaland for counting him worthy of the noble responsibility.
He noted that the title was rich in spiritual significance and historical in depth.
The lawmaker pledged to lead by example in faith, to support the ummah in truth and to recommit himself to the advancement of Islam in the region.
He added that the essence of faith was service to Allah, saying that Islam remained a complete and beautiful way of life whose principles was based on truth, justice, compassion, and accountability.
“If we claim to be faithful, we must also be useful. That is the foundation upon which I embrace this role.
“Today, as I accept the title of Seriki Adinni of Yewaland, I do so with the full consciousness that titles may decorate a person, but it is service that dignifies the title,” he said.
Isiaka , the Charman, House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, stated that religion played a crucial role in national growth and development, saying that religion should unite us rather than divide us
“We must ensure that we continue to preach unity through religion. We are united by the fact that we want development as a country.
“We are united by the fact that we want progress. We are united by the fact that we want a greater Nigeria. Whichever religion you practice is your choice ” he said.
