Iseyin needs further development —Aseyin

The Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdulganiyy Adekunle Salaudeen Oloogunebi Ajinese I,  has advocated further development in Iseyin.

The monarch, who made the call during his 10th coronation anniversary at Iseyin District Grammar School  said, “virtually all federal roads leading to the town which is the gateway to Oke-Ogun are worse  than footpaths.”

Making reference to one of the largest dams in the country which is located in the community, the traditional ruler said: “Ikere Gorge dam, which can solve our agricultural, irrigation, energy, fishing  and potable water problems, especially in the South-West, has become a gorry sight.

“The dam is one of the  largest in Africa but yearly budgetary allocation to the dam has become mere rhetoric with nothing to  show for it.

“But we thank the present government, which has approved the dam for hydro electric power  generation.”

Speaking further, the monarch urged federal and state governments as well as investors to come to  Iseyin to invest.

The anniversary, which was a talk of the town, was graced by eminent personalities, including traditional  rulers, political office holders, business tycoons, among others.

Three indigenes of the town, who had contributed immensely to its development, were conferred with chieftaincy title.

They are Alhaji Hammed Raji (Turaki of Iseyinland), Major-General Muhammed Gana (retd) (Aare Ajagunla of Iseyinland) and Alhaja Fatimo Olowo (Wazira of Iseyinland and Otun Yeyelua).
