Isara-Remo community mourns Olaniwun Ajayi

Isara-Remo home, of one of the late disciples of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Sir  Olaniwun Ajayi, has become mecca of sorts, since the news of his demise at the age of 91 years.

Scores of sympathizers filtering through the town, have signed a condolence register opened in his memory by his family.

Tribune Online who was at the residence noticed that a giant canopy with chairs have been erected for people to sit,  while some family members were seen attending to visitors.

Over 50 people have signed the register and written tributes in memory of the departed.

Speaking with Tribune Online,  Sir Ajayi’s nephew, Mr. Adebari Ajayi, described him as a great man of Africa.

He said: “Papa was well known for his uprightness, straight forwardness, truthfulness. I cherish him because he always admonished me to  do good to fellow mankind.

“He was a great catalyst to the development of his hometown, Isara and the entire Remoland. It will be difficult to fill the vacuum he has left behind here in Isara and Nigeria. He will be greatly missed.”

For Chief Kolapo Ogunjobi, Sir Ajayi was described as a man of noble and affectionate nature.

“An embodiment of love. Papa was a cosmopolitan and urbane. He maintained a sartorial excellence to the last syllable of time,” Ogunjobi said.

The Regency Council of Isara said “the news of his death was a rude shock.”
