I have been coughing and wheezing for the past two months despite taking medications. My doctor said that what I have is asthma. Please let me know more about asthma and how to treat it?

Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition whereby inflamed and narrowed air passages cause difficulty with breathing. The airways in the lungs may react to various triggers and become more inflamed. The muscles around the airways can also tighten. All of this can reduce airflow in your airways and can cause asthma symptoms such as, Shortness of breath, Coughing, Wheezing and Chest tightness. Some of the agents that can trigger off an ‘asthma attack’ are; allergens such as dust mites, pollen (from trees, grass, and weeds), mould, animal dander, or cockroaches, irritants such as tobacco smoke, chemicals, sprays, dust, or air pollution, respiratory illness such as a cold or flu, Physical activity, Cold air and Strong emotions or stress. Since the condition is not curable, the goal of treatment is to avoid those factors that trigger asthmatic attacks as well as a medical advice on finding a treatment plan that works for you to help control your asthmasymptoms.
