IPPIS: Employees’ data safe, secure, OAGF assures

Published by

The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to maintaining and operating a secure and efficient personnel and payroll system.

In a statement issued by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations, on Monday, the OAGF affirmed that the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) database has not been compromised, assuring that employees’ personal data on the IPPIS database is safe and secure.

The OAGF, which manages the IPPIS and other financial management initiatives of the Federal Government, stated that it is already implementing its ICT Security Policy to ensure that its digital assets are secured in line with global best practices.

The Office clarified that no data is stored on its website, explaining that the IPPIS uses the website solely to share information and not for conducting any transactions.

“The IPPIS does not use the OAGF website for any transactions. The website is merely a medium for sharing information. Neither payroll nor payments are processed through the website, so no data is stored there,” the statement said.

The OAGF further explained that the IPPIS validation portal, recently developed to update employees’ information, was deployed temporarily, and once the exercise was completed, the data were removed, and the site was permanently shut down.

According to the Office, “The IPPIS Validation Portal was deployed on a secure platform. A secure database and application were purchased from the popular HELIX-FONS.”

The Office acknowledged the significance of the IPPIS to Nigerian workers and emphasized the importance of addressing concerns about any potential loss or breach of employee personal data in the IPPIS database.

The OAGF also noted that mechanisms are in place to resolve any issues that may arise during the system’s operations and advised workers experiencing salary anomalies to follow the official procedures for resolving such issues.
