IPOB sit-at-home order: High compliance in Ebonyi as schools, banks, shops remain closed

Ebonyi State has witnessed a high level of compliance with the sit-at-home order issued in protest against the detention of the leader of the Indigenous People’s of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu was arrested by the Federal Government a few weeks ago and has been detained by the Department of State Security (DSS) since then.

When the Nigerian Tribune visited some popular and busy roads in the state like Ogoja Road, International market, Ezza Mgbo Market, Vanco Junction, Presco Junction, Speradeo Junction, it was noticed that there was sparse movement of private vehicles, Keke and Okada operating, but all offices, shops, banks, markets, including the state international market were all closed

At Afikpo Road, it was discovered that all the transportation company’s and parks were open, no vehicle was loading or offloading.

Further visits to some popular government and private schools revealed that only the students writing NECO exams were seen at the school premises.

At the popular Onuebonyi Axis, Nigerian Tribune gathered that IPOB members at the early hours of today, blocked the road with tires before security agencies arrived the scene and maintained peace.

However, no life has been lost at the time of filing this report as security agencies were seen patrolling the whole the city and other towns.
