The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Kogi State Chapter on Wednesday elected Mallam Iliyas Badanga Abdulsalam as the new chairman.
The election, which took place at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Lokoja, was monitored by one of the INEC officials.
At the end of the election, Mallam Iliyas Badanga Abdulsalam scored 12 votes, while the second contestant, Mr. Medupin Ephraim, scored 4 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Badanga said it was with humility, a great sense of responsibility, and determination to selflessly serve on behalf of the newly elected executives that he graciously accepted my election as the Kogi State IPAC Chairman.
His words, “I promise to hold dearly this great position of trust and responsibility unanimously reposed on me by various political chairmen in the state,. I will uphold the IPAC ideal of integrity and professionalism and defend the public interest. I will betray this invaluable trust, no matter the price, Insha Allah.
He assured the political parties that have participated in the process that he would be fair and just with all political parties to advance the course of democracy and deliver purposeful leadership.
“I want to reiterate here that the success of IPAC is dependent on the cooperation of all members for rapid development, as there can be no progress without peace. Now that the election is over and the task ahead of us is governance, I plead with all stakeholders to cooperate with me expeditiously to move IPAC forward.
“This election process will not be complete without the electoral committee officials of political parties from the headquarters for the conduct of this election and independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as observers and supervisors; my gratitude goes to the chairman and his team for their contributions, especially by providing free and fair environment for the election,” he said
