Shehu Gabam
Shehu Gabam who was reacting to the invasion by officers and men of the DSS stated that the action was uncalled for, unacceptable and a ridicule of the country’s democratic principles pointing out that the act has further reduced the integrity of the ruling APC.
The SDP National Scribe reminded the perpetrators of the act that there is absolute separation of powers in a democracy in spite of the check and balances allowed in any democratic rule stating that “each arm of government must know its boundary and so must do everything within the constitution to protect it without necessarily crossing the boundary”.
Though he commended the immediate action taken by the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo in sacking the Director-General of the DSS, Lawal Daura, he called for further actions by investigating to dig out the immediate and remote causes of the invasion.
Shehu Gabam also said that “what has happened to the DSS leadership should act as a warning signal to other security agencies as well as paramilitary agencies that may want to take unconstitutional actions in order to please the ruling party”.

He, however, advised politicians too to play the game of politics according to its rules in to avoid actions that will unnecessarily heat up the polity because according to him, ” we all have a stake in ensuring that democracy and democratic principles thrived in this country, we cannot allow ourselves to retrogressed back to the dark years of military rule”.
