Introduce life assurance policies in your industry, clergy charges Nollywood stars

The President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr Israel Akanji has charged Nollywood stars to introduce life assurance policy to the entertainment industry.

His charge came following the unfortunate death of Nollywood actor, Junior Pope and five others in a boat mishap while going to a movie location.

Speaking during a press conference heralding the commencement of the 111th annual convention Akanji who commiserated with the Nollywood family said the policy is needed owing to the risks involved in the industry.

“We commiserate with the Nollywood family with the seemingly unending demise of its leading members. Nollywood, without doubt, has continued to contribute immensely to entertainment and the building of moral standards in our society.

“We call on the relevant bodies to introduce Life Assurance policies for the members and introduce them to the National Health Insurance Scheme in view of the risks of their vocation.”

Akanji said this year’s session is holding at the Baptist International Convention Centre (BICC) at Lufuwape village, Kilometre 54, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, in Ogun State from Saturday, April 20 -25, 2024.
