JUSTICE P.I. Ajoku of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, on Friday, remanded a suspected Internet fraudster, Oluwarore Olutimilehin, over alleged cyber-crime related fraud.

Ajoku ordered that Oluwatimilehin be remanded in Agodi Prison after the defendant pleaded not guilty to the seven-count charge against him, bordering on impersonation, false pretence and fraud.

The Judge adjourned the case until June 26 for the commencement of trial and bail application.

Mr O.A. Owoduni, counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibadan Zonal office, had informed the court that the suspect committed the alleged crime in March, in Ibadan.

Owoduni said that the defendant presented himself as Stephen Kibo, an American citizen, and also operated an illegal Email address to defraud unsuspecting foreigners.

The EFCC counsel said that Oluwatimilehin had successfully obtained various sums of US dollars from his victim before luck ran out on him.

He told the court that the offences contravened Sections 1 (1) (A), 22A, (1) and 6A of the Advance Fee Fraud and other related offences Act 2006.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that, if convicted, the defendant risks seven years imprisonment for each of the offences.
