The Bauchi State Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to leading efforts in strengthening inter-agency collaboration as a strategic pathway to achieving its internal security mandate.
To this end, the Command will establish robust and healthy relationships and partnerships with all sister security agencies and stakeholders in the state.
This assertion was made during the maiden press conference addressed by Sani-Omolori Aliyu, the 46th Commissioner of Police for the Bauchi State Command, held in his office at the Command Headquarters on Wednesday.
“Good morning, ladies and gentlemen of the press. You are welcome to my maiden press conference as the 46th Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command,” he began.
He emphasized, “The objective of policing is clearly outlined in the law enforcement code of ethics. As a law enforcement officer, my fundamental duty is to serve humanity, safeguard lives and property, and protect the innocent against deception and the weak against oppression or intimidation. We aim to ensure the peaceful coexistence of all citizens in the state, guard against violence and disorder, and uphold citizens’ constitutional rights, guaranteeing liberty, equality, and justice.”

According to him, “The objective of modern policing and crime control, in line with global best practices, is to contribute to reinforcing trust and confidence among the populace.”
Sani-Omolori Aliyu further stated, “These core values and general objectives constitute our collective and individual responsibilities to ensure law and order. This will enable us to reduce crime to the barest minimum, all within the confines of the law.”
The Commissioner added, “Our strategy will generally be driven by integrated intelligence-led community policing, which transcends simple law enforcement and embraces human security and development services. This approach will be achievable through the required expertise and holistic community support.”
“Our policing will be guided by professional knowledge and driven by intelligence at strategic, operational, and tactical levels. Our modus operandi will therefore be proactive, preventive, and, where necessary, reactive,” he said.
The Commissioner assured, “We will incorporate key elements of modern crime control and conflict management strategies into our policing efforts. These strategies will target prolific offenders and high-risk areas, and ensure effective management of major public events and crime-prone gatherings through dedicated community partnerships and intelligence-led patrol systems.”
He further assured, “Actionable intelligence and community policing methods will focus on practical crime and violent conflict prevention, with decisive response capabilities. We will identify our respective and collective Areas of Responsibility (AORs) based on geography, demographics, and socio-economic crime maps to guide intelligence-led operations.”
Additionally, he stressed, “All investigations shall be evidence-based and intelligence-driven. Our officers and men have been instructed to shun indiscipline, corruption, or any unprofessional or unethical conduct. They will be held accountable for both their actions and inactions while on duty.”
“At the Command Management level, we will work diligently within available resources to provide personnel with the necessary support and guidance for optimal performance,” he added.
The Commissioner concluded, “By the grace of Almighty Allah, we shall collectively make vigorous and courageous efforts to overcome emerging security challenges, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police and, by extension, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
According to him, “The policing mission and vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM—‘To protect with courage and serve with compassion’—shall be our guiding principle.”
Sani-Omolori therefore called for genuine cooperation, dedication, and support in the collective effort to fulfil the critical task of serving the people of Bauchi State and the nation at large.
“Once again, I am grateful to the 22nd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for finding me worthy of this deployment to carry out such an important nation-building task,” he said.
He concluded by thanking journalists for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend the press conference, urging them to always verify information before publication to avoid spreading misinformation.
