Public infrastructures destroyed by Boko Haram in Yobe State.
The Victims Support Fund (VSF) on Saturday in Buni Yadi, Yobe, flagged-off commencement of reconstruction of public infrastructures destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents in the state.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Sunday Ocheche, Executive Director, VSF, said the reconstruction programme would gulp the sum of N170 million, saying the exercise, when completed, would hasten the resettlement of people in areas devastated by insurgency.
He listed some of the structures to be reconstructed to include General Hospital, Gujba Local Government Council Secretariat, Maternal and Child Health Centers, 11 blocks of classrooms and Fire Service Stations in Buni-Yadi town, among others.
The secretary also said VSF would provide farm inputs to returnee communities to improve farming activities, in addition to economically empowering women and floating foster care projects in the affected communities.
Flagging off the reconstruction programme, Alhaji Tujjani Tumsa, Vice Chairman of the Fund, said the exercise would fast-track the return of civilian authority and social activities in the areas affected.
Tumsa expressed preparedness of VSF to partner with state governments in restoring normalcy to devastated communities.
Yobe Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, represented by Alhaji Bukar Dauda, Commissioner for Land and Housing, commended the Fund for the gesture, but solicited for additional assistance.
He listed the areas of need to include food, agriculture input, credit facilities and building materials.
