Insecurity: We’ve destroyed Bello Turji’s strong base — Defense Minister

The Minister of Defense, Mohammed Abubakar Badaru has said the military has destroyed the strong base of notorious bandits, Bello Turji navigating the North-West forest.

Speaking in an interview in Kaduna, the Minister who was speaking on the current military operations in the region stated, “we have brought peace to most communities people can now go about their activities and farm unlike before.

“Now one can travel to Birnin Gwari anytime of the day without fear of being attack by bandits. Economic activities have returned go there and see the happiness on people’s faces.

“If you go to Zamfara state. The success story is same. Peace has returned to many villages.
Many bandits camps were destroyed and their commanders killed.

“Our military are doing fantastic job. They now go to their den and engaged them. We are not giving the bandits a breathing space.”

Speaking on the bandit kingpin, Bello Turji, the Defence Minister stated that the ongoing operations in the North-West has incapacitated Turji by destroying his strong base.

“Most of his commanders have been killed. We are after him and we will soon get him. We have destroyed his strong base. We are hopeful we will get him.”

Badaru advised those aiding the bandits to have a rethink, saying, “stop being their informants and help us to end this menace. Don’t you think if they killed everyone in your village you will be their next target.

“Today, Iam in Kaduna to launch a special military force about 800 of them who received a specialized training in different tactics of engaging these hoodlums . We are hoping to train 2,400 to help in the fighting against these terrorists.”
