He explained that stakeholders, including security agencies, community and traditional rulers, religious leaders, market women across the state and neighbouring states would attend the one day summit, saying the issue of security should not be left in the hands of government alone.

He also stressed the need to establish synergy with all the neighbouring states, which included, Osun, Ogun, Kogi, Edo, Delta and Ekiti states saying it became necessary in order to put an end to all security challenges in all the states and also to establish synergy among the security agencies in these states.

“It is imperative that we create a conducive environment for investors and their investment. The geographical location of Ondo state is such that people with criminal tenders make inroad into the state from neighbouring states. it is these reasons, therefore, the state governor decided to constitute this committee to package and organise security summit.”

The Chairman of the Planning Committee added that a private Security Consultancy Services and other resource persons were expected at the summit to discuss security challenges, while ideas and recommendation would be harvested.

“So many innocent lives had been wasted and killed by these criminals. We have identified that we have a problem at hand and we must all come together to solve this problem but we should not leave this challenge in the hand of government alone.

“The summit is to create public awareness and to further rekindle the public knowledge on security activities and how to manage and disseminate intelligence information without distorting same.

“The summit is for capacity building and to correct the erroneous impression the security of the state should be left in the hands of government alone”

“The recommendations of the summit will not be thrown into trash bin, but we will ensure the implementation of all the recommendations at the end of the summit.”
